Happy cycling,
The Bikeability Team

And a bit of background…
So who are we? The Bikeability Trust is the national charity for Bikeability, which is the UK government’s cycle education programme.

For all parents wondering exactly what your children will, or have been taught, please take a look.

If you are interested in getting some cycle training for either yourself or your family the Bikeability website provides details of organisations that provide courses for children and/or adults. These sessions may be provided for free, depending on your local authority. Some organisations will also provide other useful training eg. bike maintenance courses.

2. Top Tip of the Month

If you’re taking your bike out of the shed for the first time this year, make sure you give it a once over and make sure the tyres are pumped up, please see this short video.

3. Sharing our stories

“My son has this week taken part in your Bikeability scheme at his school in Poole.

He has never shown an interest in riding a bike, and up until 6 weeks ago didn’t own a bike. He was adamant he wanted to take part in the scheme and so we went out and purchased a bike for him. As a mum I have been terrified of him taking part in the scheme. Whilst I had faith in the instructors my fear was of my sons lack of experience coupled with the build-up of traffic on our roads.

I am so proud to say that my son completed the scheme with you this week, and I wanted to show my gratitude to your coaches. Thank you for showing faith in him and instructing him on safe road practice. I hope he will take the skills that he has learnt into the future with him and enjoy being on his bike.”
