The Bikeability Trust has been specially selected to feature in a commemorative album that will celebrate the life and reign of the Queen.
Her Majesty The Queen: The Official Platinum Jubilee Pageant Commemorative Album is a fully illustrated coffee-table book. It will celebrate the life and reign of Her Majesty and explore developments in the UK and around the world over the past seven decades.
The Bikeability Trust was chosen to be part of the album in recognition of its work to get more children cycling. The album will feature an exclusive interview with Bikeability Trust Chief Executive Emily Cherry, in which she speaks about how cycling has remained an important part of children’s lives since the Queen took to the throne.
The Bikeability Trust will be featured alongside other organisations specially selected for their transformational contribution across the spheres of culture, society, technology and business.
The Bikeability Trust’s Chief Executive Emily Cherry said: “It is an honour for the Trust to be selected to feature in the Official Platinum Jubilee Pageant Commemorative Album. Cycling has been a mainstay of childhood throughout the Queen’s reign and many royals have been pictured enjoying cycling. We would love to offer the youngest royals the opportunity to learn to ride with Bikeability!
“I am so proud that the Trust has been recognised as an organisation that is passionate about helping children and their families build active and sustainable lives. I would like to thank our incredible Bikeability industry, including more than 2000 instructors, who have helped us teach more than 3.6 million children to cycle since 2007. It is only with their hard work and support that we can achieve our ambition of offering every child cycle training.
“I am looking forward to receiving a copy of the album and would like to wish Her Majesty the very best for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.”
As well as the album, the Queen’s reign will be celebrated with a pageant. The pageant will mark a reawakening of the creative sector, drawing on talent from every corner of the UK and Commonwealth. To celebrate the hard work of Bikeability instructors, Emily will be taking one lucky instructor to join her on the day of the pageant as a VIP.
The album’s editorial team will include the renowned best-selling authors and royal correspondents Robert Jobson and Katie Nicholl. Katie said: “When Princess Elizabeth became Queen, nobody could have foreseen that she would become Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. The Platinum Jubilee Pageant is a landmark event in our nation’s history, and it is a great honour to work on its official commemorative album.”
Her Majesty The Queen: The Official Platinum Jubilee Pageant Commemorative Album will be released on 2 June 2022, RRP £49.95, and will be available to purchase online and in all good book retailers. It is available to pre-order at stjamess.org
