As we look back at 2024, we are proud to celebrate the successes that have helped us further our mission of empowering young people to cycle confidently and safely. From a record-breaking Cycle to School Week to new programs and exciting challenges. But we couldn’t have accomplished any of these without your help. Take a look at the infographic below to see what we’ve achieved together.

We’ve helped 5 million children to get cycling

Between April 2023 and March 2024, a record-breaking 560,471 children across England participated in Bikeability training. We’ve now trained over 5.3 million children how to cycle safely, equipping them with the confidence and skills to ride safely on the roads.

Our biggest ever Cycle to School Week

Cycle to School Week 2024 was our largest and most successful yet, with over 500 schools and 160,000 pupils taking part. The event encouraged students and families to leave the car behind and make cycling the norm for short journeys. It was inspiring to see so many of you across the country pledging and celebrating with us. You can learn more about Cycle to School Week here.

Our new Get Cycling in Schools programme

A key part of our mission is to give everyone the competence and confidence to cycle. In 2024, we trained over 1,000 teaching staff from more than 500 primary schools through our new Get Cycling in Schools programme. These individuals are now equipped to deliver cycle skills to their pupils, setting them on the path to Bikeability training and beyond. You can learn more about the programme here.

Celebration of Bikeability

In July, we held our annual Celebration of Bikeability event, where we recognised the incredible individuals and organisations that contribute to the success of Bikeability. From instructors and schools to young cyclists and families, this event was an heart-warming reminder of the collective effort that makes all of our achievements possible. You can read about all the winners here.

Summer of Cycling challenge

Last summer, we launched the Summer of Cycling challenge, inviting children and families to take part in fun cycling activities throughout the season. It was a fantastic opportunity for families to get outdoors, be active, and enjoy quality time together. You can read about our Summer of Cycling Challenge winners here. We’re already looking forward to new challenges this summer – stay tuned for more exciting cycling activities coming your way!

Looking ahead

2024 has been a year of growth, success and community spirit, and we’re excited for what the future holds. With your continued support, we’ll keep building on these accomplishments, ensuring that everyone has the confidence to enjoy the life skill, independence and fun of cycling.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey, here’s to even more success in 2025!
