This year, to make the most of the summer, we asked all the riders out there to take part in our Summer of Cycling Challenge. Entrants could chose from a list of challenges – or do all of them! – getting them out on their cycles and having lots of fun.
By entering they had the chance to win a brand-new Frog cycle, with runner-ups getting an awesome Bikeability goody bag.
We had lots of excellent entrants, who shared their cycling adventures with us! Check out some of the amazing riders who took on the challenge this year!
The challenges
Explore nature and wildlife while out cycling
We challenged you to get out in nature and explore the wild world around you. We had some great photos, including Jaykob, one of our runners-up, who meet some cool cows!
Complete a ride with one or more family members
Lots of you got on your cycles with your family and friends this summer, including Sophie who took on the challenge on a tandem!
Clean up a park or trail while cycling
We all love enjoying the outdoors free of litter! Thanks to our entrants, including sisters Sofia and Ameera, it all got a bit tidier.
Cycle to a local landmark
We challenged you to cycle to a landmark, and you outdid yourselves! Abbie made it to the Usk Reservoir to get this great photo!
Ride to a community event
We asked entrants to hop into the saddle to your local fair, fete, or market. Wilfred had a brilliant time at Cyclefest this summer!
Clean your cycle
Runner up Lily took some soap and water to her cycle to spruce it up, ready to ride her way through all our challenges!
Perform an M-check on your cycle
It’s important to keep you cycle in good condition, so as well a good wash, an M check is essential! Our challenge winner Henry did a great job making sure his cycle was road-ready!
Explore a National cycle route
There are some great cycle routes to try out there, and Henry’s sister Isla had a super time checking out her local National Cycle Network route.
Make a pledge for Cycle to School Week
Have you pledge for Cycle to School Week yet? Our entrants did, including Wilfred, who will be back on his cycle in September for our annual event! Why not join in and make your own pledge now!
Practice signalling on your cycle
Communicating with other road users to let them know what you plan to do is a key cycling skill. Bjorn took on the challenge to practice his signalling and did a great job!
Ride through some puddles
Going full speed through a puddle is great fun on a bike, as Aaliyah found out when she took on the challenge. We hope the photographer managed to stay out of the splash zone!
Cycle around a pump track
We asked entrants to show us how you pedal your local pump track, and Elizabeth did not disappoint!
Our winners
Everyone who entered won the ultimate prize of a summer packed full of cycling adventures. Congratulations to our overall winner and runners up!

We cycled to our local park and flew a kite.
Runner up: Jaykob
I have really enjoyed completing challenges on my bike this summer. I have found new, fun places to cycle, and still have many more to explore. I have also enjoyed learning about the different bike parts on the Frog Bikes activity sheets.
Runner up: Lily
We always love going for a bike ride together!
Winner: Henry
This summer was the best ever! I got to ride my bike all over England, Scotland, and Wales, and I saw so many cool places like beaches and big mountains. The most awesome part was when my sister finally learned how to ride her bike! I was so excited when she figured it out, and then we got to ride together. It was the best summer of cycling ever!
Henry has won a Tour de France™ Frog bike of his choice – after being inspired by the race on TV, he’s opted for the Frog Road 58. Thank you to our partners at Frog Bikes for inspiring a Summer of Cycling with us.
Congratulations to all the entrants who took part in the Challenge – we hope you had an amazing cycling summer!
