We’ve teamed up with app komoot to put together a list of some great cycle routes around the country.

The routes range from short 20-minute rides to 3-hour epic adventures and can be customised to suit all abilities and fitness levels!

The Forest of Dean Family Cycle Trail, Gloucestershire

A signposted circular trail that takes you through the beautiful Forest of Dean scenery. There are lots of things to do on the trail, so you can take it as slow or fast as you like!

The Discovery Trail at Haldon Forest Park, Devon

A short, fairly easy route suitable for younger children and some amazing views across the Estuary. There are other trails nearby if you want a longer route.

The Camel Trail from Bodmin to Padstow, Cornwall

This largely flat route follows an old railway line and is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness and ability. The route is traffic free, with lots of opportunities to stop for a pasty!

The Forest Way, East Sussex

Another flat route along an old railway line, which passes through Hartfield, the home of Winnie the Pooh! You can choose to cycle the whole 10 miles or a shorter section of the traffic-free trail.

The Flitch Way, Essex

Starting off in Braintree, this is a mostly traffic-free route through beautiful countryside. Following an old railway line, it is a straight route that you can shorten by stopping and turning around when you’ve reached your halfway point.

Grizedale Forest’s Goosey Foot Tarn Trail, The Lake District

A great starter mountain bike route that takes on forest trails that meander past beautiful man-made bodies of water and even sea views. There are a few small hills but nothing too technical, so this is ideal for all fitness and skill levels.

Marriotts Way, Norfolk

A longer, and more challenging ride that is completely traffic free. The route takes you through beautiful countryside – there aren’t opportunities to stop for food so a picnic is a must! If you fancy a shorter cycle, you could just do part of the trail.

Tissington Trail, The Peak District

An easy mountain bike trail that is perfect for all skill levels. Following the disused railway line, it provides a gentle route through the otherwise super hilly Peak District! There is cafe stop right at the halfway point too.

Scarborough to Whitby on the Cinder Track, North Yorkshire

This ride is a bit more difficult, so better for families with older children. Good fitness levels are needed, plus knobbly tyres as there are so unoaved and gravelly sections. It rewards your effort with amazing coastal views.

Gravel trails of London’s Epping Forest, London

An easy gravel ride that offers miles and miles of gentle trails through the forest and past ponds and lakes. There are no cafes along the way, but there are lots of great places to stop for a picnic.
